Slik RRhymez aka Slik RiQQ is a young Jamaican recording artiste/writer/composer and founder of the SLIK 4OUR Music Group (S4MG). He has had a lyrical passion for word play and music from a tender age, and has since embraced writing lyrics, making beats and producing music. With his "slick" word plays and structured lyricism he has earned the respect of a lot of underground artistes and listeners around him.
Though he was born in Clarendon he spent his childhood growing up in other parishes, among them are Kingston and St James. He attended the Frankfield Primary School at which he developed a love for music and began DJing other artistes lyrics such as Vybz Kartel and Eminem. He attended the Edwin Allen High School still exhibiting his passion for music but only started scripting his own lyrics after leaving high school, to which he had a natural talent for writing.
Slik first began writing songs after being encouraged by a friend who heard him freestyling. He wrote his first song and began writing every day and soon after began recording himself and other artistes, via headphone mic. But after some months he began getting bored of using beats download from Youtube and sought to learn to make his own beats. He was then introduced to FL Studio by a friend. Slik was given the name Slik RRhymez by a friend who listened his mixtape and loved the way he rhymed words.
Slik’s sound can be described as Dancehall music submerged in Hip Hop and Reggae, with lyricism as the common denominator. The dancehall prodigy has also been credited for his abilities off the mic, as a music producer, which makes him not only a lyrically capable artiste but also an all rounded musicians. Slik has a number of street clashes under his belt and is widely feared (lyrically) by a number of underground as well as mainstream artistes.
Slik's musical influences come from artistes such as Eminem, Vybz Kartel, Damian Marley, Aidonia, Andre 3000, Protoje, Chronixx, mainly because of their "metaphoric expressions and/in their lyrical word plays". He has also been impacted by composers such as Sonny Digital, Don Carleon and Chimney Records.
