Reggae superstar Big Youth is just one of the many artists - albeit a legendary one - who have come over to join JRM. Born Manley Augustus Buchanan in Trenchtown, Kingston, Jamaica on April 19, 1949, he did much to bring reggae to world prominence (along with the late, great Bob Marley) in the 1970s. He was prolific then, kept the faith in quieter times, and has recently been enjoying a well-merited revival. His 20 albums (and counting) confirm his status as one of reggae's greats.
Even when reggae's star faded a little in the 1980s, Big Youth did his best to restore its lustre with his acclaimed performances at several Reggae Sunsplash Festivals.
